Air Cadets reap rewards from charitable efforts.

1010 Sqn Cadets collecting for SSAFA

On Saturday the 19th of November, staff and cadets from 1010 (City of Salisbury) Squadron Air Training Corps attended the World War I performance of “The Wipers Times” at the Salisbury Playhouse to help raise money for the Soldier Sailor Air Force Association (SSAFA) charity. In total, the cadets raised just under £2,000 pounds, a not insignificant amount which the cadets were incredibly proud of. The SSAFA Wiltshire representative said: “The cadets are incredible young people, they are a credit to their parents and are a fantastic advert for the Royal Air Force.” As well as raising money for charity, the staff and cadets got the opportunity to meet writer, journalist and notable television figure Ian Hislop.

Cadets and Staff member  Flt Lt Sue Graham met Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye.

He was very happy to engage with the cadets and he was incredibly impressed with the work that they were doing. It is a very successful evening with one of the cadets saying “It is fantastic that we have the opportunity to help out in the local community. It is hugely rewarding and it is just one of a large number of amazing events that the Air Cadets are involved with.”
