On February 26th, CWO Forrest and I attended a BEM (British Empire Medal) Ceremony, at Great Chalfield Manor. One of our duties was to assist the Lord Lieutenant with the presentation of the medals during the ceremony. This was a very enjoyable day and it was great to hear about all things the recipients had achieved.
15 cadets took part in the Blue Radio Communicators Course and successful completed it today. Thanks to the five cadets that assisted Sgt and CI Humphrey to make the Day run smoothly.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Cadets of 1010 SQUADRON. A day of athletics saw 16 youngsters taking part in many events. Our Older girls won overall. Our Boys came second in overall boys classes. Our Girls came second in overall girls classes. Sqn came second in entire competition!!!
On Saturday 8th April, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to travel to RAF Cranwell, to represent the South West Region at the Senior Regional Hockey Championships. Along with 14 other girls from various wings across the region, we competed against the 5 other regions of the Air Cadet Organisation. By the end of the day, we won 3 matches, drew 1 and lost 1 – unfortunately in the last few seconds of the last game, making it the only goal conceded throughout the whole day. As a result, we came 1st overall.
This was a huge achievement for us, and despite only meeting the majority of the team 2 hours before our first game, we all got on really well together both on and off the pitch, lead by a strong and determined captain
who pushed us to succeed. It was an excellent occasion for me to meet like-minded people and build teamwork whilst playing a sport I love. It was a tiring but exciting experience and I look forward to returning in the coming year for Wing tryouts.
7 cadets from Salisbury and three from Amesbury Squadron spent a weekend at Boscombe Down learning valuable life saving first aid skills. Congratulations to all of them for passing with flying colours.
